Description
The WRC Africa is back. The Safari of old has evolved to fit the modern-day WRC, but its character remains with challenging closed dirt roads, stunning picture-postcard scenery and exotic wildlife. Competitors can expect rocky and rutted tracks and unpredictable weather which could transform dry and dusty trails into glutinous mudbaths.
After an 18-year break, the 2021 Safari Rally was a motor racing event for rally cars that was the sixty-eighth running of the Safari Rally. The sixy-ninth promises to be even better!
Let’s take a look back at some great moments from the event’s history of dramatic rally driving:
The Safari Rally, as it known today, was first held in 1953 to commemorate the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. In its early days, the Safari Rally traversed the three East African Countries; Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Due to its robust character, the Safari Rally quickly gained global recognition as the “World’s Toughest Rally,” a reputation it has kept to date. In 1978, it became a full round of the World Rally Championships featuring in the World Rally Championship series until 2002.
